One of the most educational establishments many of the department of Santa Cruz in Bolivia is conducting a pilot experience of integration of Information Technologies and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the classroom.
Specifically, the process took more than 60 teachers and 1100 students in public education.
phases of the program are three:
Empowerment Development Implementation
The key words of this successful model with three years of existence are: sustainability and autonomy.
is sustainable because it is designed based on open source technology that provides enormous advantages: it can run on any hardware (Any computer, be it old or new) do not become obsolete over the years, there are tools that are similar to those used in Unix systems for over 30 years, ie that in another 30 years perhaps continued use.
achieve autonomy because to study the source code of the programs and adapt to the needs of a region (for example, culture, language, way of seeing the world, levels of knowledge, cultural patterns, state industrial development, educational , etc.) no longer depends on big multibillion companies or other agencies. The software itself becomes so as the hardware, ie, programs become so typical and computers.
The country has serious difficulties in terms of resources to incorporate ICTs into education, free software is a resource that is freely available, alleviating the obstacles.
The idea from this case study is to be a reference for other educational units, so that they can replicate.
