The BA in Computer Education I have a field called Elements of Articial Intelligence, where we have just started with Prolog, had two alternatives, the swi - prolog or anzi - prolog, looking and looking to install in my Ubuntu 8.04 I found much info, but I'll summarize in a few steps. Basically cost me a little, to be honest, in the end turned out to be simple but there are q look far. The final touch Dany Maldonado gave that helped me run the. Jar edited. Well ... posting below that you send to my friend by the Group of matter. At last I
!. I share this info in case you have people using free Soft.
I use debian based distributions ((*) ubuntu) so I comment the steps to install SWI - Prolog in these distributions.

1 a. - In console: sudo apt-get install swi-prolog
or if you prefer the Synaptic or Adept
1b .- Search prolog and install the swi-prolog q said, will appear many package, but installing the first.

Then go to the following path: / usr / lib / swi-prolog

Once placed in that directory, put swipl
console and open the edit but in console mode, in my opinion is not very easy, but when not managed well the language, so I found a very nice graphical interface of a Java-based editor. JPrologEditor, which is in the sig.
link
http://www.trix.homepage.t-online.de/JPrologEditor/

Well, the bottom of the page is the editor that is. jar, and then download it. are positioned in the directory is stored and tipean console: java-jar
JPrologEditor.jar (Note: must have java installed packages, the jre)

and starts the editor.

When loading to 94% will leave an error "the swi prolog interpreter not could be started ... ", warning that window closes and opens the editor, then go to: Edit

- > Option
Prolog-Directory: / usr/lib/swi-prolog/bin/i386

AND READY.
